This is My Bible. Its pages are yellow with age, corners thumbed and bent, chapters lined with different colored inks. There are notes in the spaces and tears have soaked several of its pages. The cover is no longer attached though it still holds the book of books together. Old church programs, note papers and book mark live within its bosom. It is a Gideon Bible KJV. My father gave it to me when I was five. I have many more new, nicer looking ones but this is the one I read. It opens automatically to Pslam 91… “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” It has been my dwelling place, and the shadow I have rested under when it felt like the world and people would crush me. It is my best friend and carries all my stories. I am sharing this with you because this old Bible is filled with love. Do Not let anyone, no matter their education, religious affiliation, or politics tell you otherwise. – a seeker of truth who also happens to be gay.
